Meeting notes:
- Judy has doubts that we can do an event this year. We have
no money. No one has been around. Bradley and Karen can't do
it alone; the incinerator issue is pressing in on us. Part of
the problem is that we have no main contact person.
- Karen says let's look at raising money and doing an event
in the spring. We need a fiscal sponsor. Could we do that through
one of our organizations? Go after the Race for the Cure. We
could do a poster campaign there.
- We need something that is ongoing and gets TLC out there
on people's radar screen. There seems to be funding for Precautionary
Principle-related work (SF Foundation is doing it, so is Vanguard).
Get this for 2004.
- Do people see a way to do it this year? How do we want to
see TLC survive?
- Emily would do outreach, but needs direction, because she
has little experience.
- Marlene is an experienced theatre person -- also Art and
Revolution might be willing. What about Michael Moore?
- Recalling Race for the Cure events of the past: "Who
really causes cancer?" We could do that again.
- Can Breast Cancer Fund help with the images?
- BCA will have a table at the Race for the Cure, which is
on September 7th! BCA, WCRC, and Greenaction have the signs from
earlier events, we think. It would be a great educational opportunity.
Last time, we had brochures that identified the chemical companies,
etc. that support the Race for the Cure.
- Karen will get the brochure to us to reproduce. How many
of us will be there? Karen, Emily, and Catherine will inventory
the signs.
- Emily will contact people about the sign inventory.
- Judy wants a minimum of 10 people. Emily will do some phone
calling.
- There will be a poster parts on Monday, September 1 (Labor
Day) at Karen Susag's place at 1 PM. The address is 1162 Alabama
Street, San Francisco. The cross street is 24th.
- Get to the Race for the Cure (September 7) by 8:30 AM.
- Who has the pink ribbon/noose buttons? Catherine?
- Next time, we will do long-range planning.
- Judy will send the reminder of our next meeting: September
9, 6PM, Greenaction.
